Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber designed the Embody starting from the back and working outwards. The backrest consists of a central support with flexible ribs. Using the Backfit adjustment, you can set it to match the curve of your own back, after which it moves with you.

The upholstery on the seat and backrest should be taut, with no sagging.
The tilt mechanism must operate smoothly throughout its full range of movement.
The armrests and gas spring should hold their position.
If any of these points fail the inspection, the chair will not go online.
